高山晟

高山 晟（たかやま あきら、1932年6月2日 - 1996年1月2日）は、日本の経済学者。南イリノイ大学ヴァンデヴィア経済学冠教授。専門は国際貿易論。

経歴

1932年に横浜市に生まれる。1957年に国際基督教大学を卒業する。その後、ロチェスター大学に留学し、1962年にPh.D.を取得する。帰国後、1964年に一橋大学からも博士学位を取得している。その後、国際基督教大学、マンチェスター大学にそれぞれ2年在籍し、パーデュー大学には1966年から1980年までの14年間、テキサスA&M大学には1972年から1982年までの10年間在籍した。その後京都大学で2年間教鞭をとり、1983年に着任した南イリノイ大学が最後の勤務校となった。この間、アメリカの大学、日本の大学、台湾の大学で在外研究を行った。1996年に癌で他界した。配偶者はテキサスA&M大学や南イリノイ大学で勤務した人文学者の高山真知子。

ロチェスター大学ではロナルド・ジョーンズとライオネル・マッケンジーに師事した。さらに、ハリー・G・ジョンソン、ショーチ・ツァンにも博士論文の執筆の際に指導を受けた。日本でも、一橋大学の小島清、赤松要、久武雅夫、都留重人、さらに、アラン・グレーソン（Alan H. Gleason）、カール・クレイダー（Carl Kreider）の指導を受けた。直接指導は受けていないものの、森嶋通夫、二階堂副包、宇沢弘文の世界での活躍に強い刺激を受けたと述べている。

業績

国際貿易の分野で顕著な業績をあげた。Journal of Macroeconomics, Journal of Economic Integration, Review of International Economics, Economics Lettersの学術誌の編集に携わった。国際基督教大学では、高山の名を冠した学術奨励賞が創設された。
