エドワード・ソジャ

エドワード・ウィリアム・ソジャ（Edward William Soja、1940年 - 2015年）は、アメリカ合衆国の社会学者、地理学者。専門は、都市社会学、社会理論、批判地理学。

経歴

1967年、シラキューズ大学で博士号取得。カリフォルニア大学ロサンゼルス校都市計画学部教授。都市研究におけるロサンゼルス学派の一人。

当初の研究はアフリカの近代化であったが、1980年代に入って、空間の意味・変容に関心を移し、ロサンゼルスを事例に研究を進める。それに伴って、狭義の地理学にとどまらない学際的アプローチを採用。
