English: Japanese "alphabet" by Engelbert Kaempfer 1690-1693. Listing firo-canna (modern romanisation: Hiragana) and catta-canna (modern romanisation: Katakana), alongside "imatto-canna" (mostly variant kana, or "Hentaigana", mistaken as a congruent syllabary). Two rows of right-to-left columns, top comes before bottom. Written out using Japanese consonant ordering but Roman vowel ordering. Each column is written in right-to-left columns of Hiragana, then Katakana, then "imatto" kana, and romanisation (which differs from modern romanisations in places) last (leftmost) of all.
